It must be the year of the website redesign in the Park Cities. Or, maybe I should say "years." The City of University Park just launched an all new website, following overhauls of Highland Park's town website and HPISD's online presence in 2013.
Besides looking much prettier than the City's old Web digs, the revamped website (which has been in the works since last spring) has much easier navigation. That means that the Resident Center, which is used for tasks like paying utility bills, filing requests or complaints and viewing council meetings, will be simpler to find and operate.
Various pages of the site boast photos of the City's best features—parks around town, Snider Plaza, and city hall (plus the Fighting Scot!)—and easy-to-spot buttons on the front page direct to all the City's departments including Police, Fire and Parks & Rec.
"From the start of the process, our chief objective was to provide a site that immediately conveys the beauty and charm of our parks, neighborhoods and retail centers. This was accomplished in part with all new photography," UP spokesman Steve Mace said.
Since it's under the umbrella of the City, the UP Public Library also has a swanky new website with photos of the library, upcoming event postings and more information.
Perhaps the best part? Users of desktop computers, laptops, notebooks, iPads or smartphones will find that the city website is "sized for easy viewing," Mace said.
