Brad Oldham & Christy Coltrin in front of the McLaren P1

The $1.15 million McLaren P1 is clearly a masterpiece of automotive engineering and design, so it was only fitting that Park Place Premier Collection recently showcased a McLaren P1, along with a McLaren 650S Spider, in the Brad Oldham Studio Store in downtown Dallas.

Guests enjoyed steak tartar, crab cakes, salmon cornet, mini-hickory burgers, mushroom tartines and mini sweets prepared by The Joule Hotel while admiring the world’s first hybrid supercar amidst the creativity and innovation of Oldham’s studio.

Designed to be the ultimate driver’s car, the McLaren P1 had a strictly limited production run of 375, which sold out within the first few months of taking orders. The 3.8-liter 727-hp V-8 propels the dynamic sportscar from 0-to-60 miles-per-hour in only 2.7 seconds, yet it’s paired with a 176-hp electric motor and can achieve a combined fuel consumption rating of 34 miles-per-gallon. Equipped with a hydro-pneumatic suspension, electro-hydraulically assisted steering, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a rear spoiler that lifts nearly 12 inches, the elegant supercar effortlessly hugs the road on its way to a governable top speed of 217 mph.

Much more attainable, the $283,925 (MSRP) McLaren 650S Spider was also prominently displayed in the center of the Brad Oldham Studio Store. Equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 that powers the sporty two-seater, the 650S Spider will thrust its driver to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and can achieve triple digits in 5.9 seconds on its way to a top end of 207 mph.

Well known for the $1.4 million “Traveling Man” sculptural series in Deep Ellum, sculptor and designer Brad Oldham recently opened the retail studio store at 1200 Ross Avenue in downtown Dallas, featuring sculpture, jewelry, and gifts. Brad Oldham designs and manufacturers architectural features and art products for site-specific installation or retail distribution.
