Season Ends With 42-39 Playoff Loss

Highland Park's football season ended Friday with a frustrating 42-39 loss to Tyler John Tyler in a playoff semifinals game in Waco.

Even though Tyler John Tyler's defense was tough, Scots quarterback Brady Burgin was able to complete 11 of 17 passing attempts for 114 yards -- while he was in the game, that is. Burgin suffered a collarbone injury during the fourth quarter and was replaced by senior Scott Ellerman who completed two of four passes for 83 yards and one touchdown.

Despite the loss, senior running back Preston Miller played a strong game and rushed for 163 yards on 27 carries. Miller also had five receptions for 41 yards for a combined total of 204 yards on offense.

History has proved it repeats itself because this is the fourth season in a row that the Scots have lost in the third round of the playoffs.

The Scots finished this season with a 12-1 record and were undefeated going into the Tyler John Tyler matchup.
