Former University Park Mayor Edward J. Drake passed away the day after Thanksgiving at the age of 87.

A funeral service will be hosted to honor his life at 11 a.m. on Friday at Park Cities Presbyterian Church.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Drake's lifetime accomplishments include flying B-17s in WWII, receiving a law degree from the University of Texas, serving as the mayor of University Park from 1984 to 1986, and working as a trustee for the Darren Patterson Christian Academy in Buena Vista, Colo.

His legacy will live on through his wife, Donda, his daughter, Diane Burns of Dallas, his son Edward J. Drake III of Dallas, his daughter, Carol Fletcher of McKinney, and six grandchildren.
