The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is looking forward to having the Highland Park Department of Public Service return to participate in the First Responders Division of their annual Big D Climb. The team will race against police and firefighters from other city departments across North Texas. The participants will race up 52 flights of stairs at Fountain Place on Saturday, Jan. 26. Highland Park officer Jason Peacock is a serious runner and has participated in this event the past several years. He said, “I enjoy doing these events for great causes because many of the recipients of the donations can't run or have various physical obstacles in life. Many are kids that don't get to enjoy a normal, playful childhood.  I figure as long as my body can hold up, I will keep running and raising money.” For more information on the Big D Climb, please CLICK HERE

Highland Park High School graduate Catherine Rose is teaming up with Jennifer Karol to co-chair the 48th annual Art Ball benefiting the Dallas Museum of Art. This year’s event theme is Untitled, and it will be held on Saturday, April 13. Working with noted event designer Todd Fiscus, Rose and Karol have created a multi-faceted evening. It will begin at the Dallas Museum of Art and move to a gala tent at the adjacent Klyde Warren Park. “We hope that each part of the evening, from the auction to the seated dinner, will have moments that bring the entire crowd together in celebration of the Dallas Museum of Art,” said Rose. “It is our hope that Art Ball 2013 makes a lasting impression on each guest and reaffirms the importance of having a great art museum in our great city.” For more information on the Art Ball, please CLICK HERE.

On Feb. 8 Highland Park Presbyterian Day School is excited to host an evening of CAMP BINGO, celebrating the school’s 60th anniversary.  The event is headed up by Paige and John Slates and Tricia and Randy Touchstone and will be held at the Brook Hollow Golf Club. The couples are enjoying support from Carrie Parsons, Executive Director of the Day School, Mary Meier, Fundraising Coordinator, and Honorary Chairs Carol and Sam Dalton. Paige Slates said, “We are going ‘glamping’ while we celebrate 60 years of a school that has touched the lives of our entire community.  We are inviting current day school families and alumni. The day school has nurtured our children's hearts and enriched their minds to set them on a path of success for school. We are grateful to the day school and how they have molded our children's entire character into the young students they are today."
