Sidley Austin is pleased to announce that Penny Reid, general counsel and partner in the law firm’s Dallas office, has been selected by the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers as the recipient of the 2019-2020 Outstanding Mentor Award.
Ms. Reid was chosen for the award based on her efforts as a mentor and leader of the Sidley Trial Academy, where she assists with teaching valuable trial skills to junior attorneys at the firm. Inside the firm, she professionally mentors the associates and junior partners, helps staff cases and looks to provide sought-after opportunities to attorneys. Many of her mentees describe her as engaging and always willing to provide meaningful direction. Ms. Reid also takes the time to meet with each summer associate over lunch and remains in touch with them.
Within the community, Ms. Reid has an extensive record of service. She is involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Dallas Symphony Orchestra League and Attorneys Serving the Community. She helps to advance the practice of law through her involvement with the American Bar Association, Litigation Counsel for America and the Trial Lawyer Honorary Society.
Ms. Reid earned her B.B.A. with honors from the University of Texas in 1986, and she earned her J.D. from the University of Texas Law School in 1989, also with honors. She lives in Highland Park.
