With over 30 years of experience in buying and selling exclusive estate jewelry in Dallas, jeweler Bill Noble will share fascinating details and perhaps a few secrets about the fabulous jewels he has handled as the keynote lecturer for the second annual Antiques at the Alexander: Lectures, Appraisals & Conservator Consultations in the Historic Alexander Mansion, on Saturday, April 27. The Dallas Woman’s Forum will once again present this fun and enlightening “Antiques Roadshow-style” event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to bring your treasures to the Alexander Mansion at 4607 Ross Avenue for on-the-spot evaluations by Dallas-area appraisal and conservation experts.
For $25 per item, or three items for $60, you will receive an individual appraisal consultation on the history and current value of your possessions. New this year, there will be conservators who can look at your broken or damaged object and tell you what it would cost to repair it! Courtesy of the North Texas Association for Art Conservation, we will have specialists in documents and paper items; paintings; textiles; glass and ceramics; and wooden objects.
Personal appraisal and conservation appointments will be scheduled from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Beginning at noon, complimentary champagne and light bites will be served throughout the afternoon.
The day will begin at 11 a.m. with a lecture by Gloria Goodwin, Historian of the Dallas Woman’s Forum, who will speak on The Alexander Mansion: Yesterday & Today, followed by Bill Noble, William Noble Rare Jewels, who will lecture on Fabulous Gems & Famous People: Buying & Selling Estate Jewelry at noon. Appraisals will be offered for art, Asian art and antiques, books, china, clocks, collectibles, costumes and accessories, furniture (no large pieces; bring detailed photographs or small, easily-carried items), fine and costume jewelry, needlework and textiles, porcelain, silver, toys and antique firearms.
