The second season for the Saint Michael’s Farmers Market will open on Saturday, April 27 with several new vendors and many market favorites from last season. The market, located at 8011 Douglas at Colgate, will be set up on the church’s north parking lot every Saturday morning through November 2. The hours will be from 8 a.m. to noon, rain or shine.

More than 30 vendors have committed to providing a wide variety of produce, fruits, vegetables, and specialty foods and breads. New this year is a concession area where shoppers can buy coffee, sno cones, and drinks, as well as a covered “cool zone” with tables to escape the summer heat. There will also be a new playground with swings, slides, and a playscape for children.

“Last year the Saint Michael’s Farmers Market became a Saturday morning gathering place, and with the new amenities and the great group of vendors, the market will be even more exciting. Our vendors use natural, sustainable, or organic practices, and their products are grown or produced within a 150-mile radius of Dallas,” said the market’s director Nancy Powers.

Saint Michael Rector, Dr. Bob Dannals, said that the market is a non-profit community outreach ministry of the church. “We welcome everyone from the community to come meet their neighbors, enjoy a leisurely Saturday morning and take home some good healthy food. There is a lot more to Saint Michael than Sunday morning worship services.”

In addition to fruits and vegetables, the market will feature fresh, pasture-raised beef and chicken, seafood, eggs, cheeses, olive oil, baked goods, honey, canned goods, jellies and tamales.
