HP Police Blotter: Woman Leads Officers on Car Chase

Highland Park, Texas (Nov. 11 — Nov. 18)

NOVEMBER 13

Evading Arrest and Detention
A woman led Highland Park officers on a car chase that ended in Collin County, and included multiple police departments. 

According to a report from the Highland Park Department of Public Safety,  the woman was pulled over in a 2012 Kia Rio by officers at 2:25 a.m. in the 4100 block of Mockingbird Lane. Officers pulled the vehicle over because of defective license plate lights. When an officer began to approach the Kia, the woman sped away, leading officers on a chase through the Park Cities. HP officers terminated pursuit northbound on Highway 75, where other departments took over.

The McKinney Police Department put spikes in the road, which deflated three of the Kia's tires and ended the car chase. However, the woman then fled on foot, and make it a quarter-of-a-mile before being caught by officers and arrested.

The woman had drug paraphernalia with her, and several traffic warrants in Dallas.

NOVEMBER 14

Vehicle Burglary
A 49-year-old resident reported that the third row seat was stolen from his GMC Yukon between 5:50 a.m. and 5:55 a.m. in the 4400 block of Westway Avenue.

NOVEMBER 15

Fraud
A 53-year-old resident reported that more than $3,400 had been charged on his credit card without his permission, dating back to Oct. 31.

NOVEMBER 18

Burglary
A 52-year-old resident reported that someone had stolen his 2011 Diamondback Road Bike between 8 a.m. on Nov. 11 and 2 p.m. on Nov. 18 in the 4400 block of Edmondson Avenue.
