United Way of Metropolitan Dallas Women of Tocqueville recently gathered to kickoff the organization’s 10th anniversary year at the Bivins Gallery at The Crescent in Dallas. Gallery owners, Karen and Michael Bivins, warmly welcomed guests on May 23rd hosting the complimentary reception for Women of Tocqueville members and spouses. Guests enjoyed mingling and meeting artists Lidia Vitkovskaya and Denis Mikhaylov from Russia who were on exhibition at the gallery. Karen Bivins announced that 10 percent of any purchases made at the Bivins gallery through the end of June would be donated back to United Way.
Jennifer Sampson, McDermott-Templeton President and CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, opened remarks by announcing the new campaign chairs for 2018-2019-- Tocqueville members, Mary and Rich Templeton. This is the first time in United Way’s history that a couple has chaired the non-profit’s annual fundraising campaign. Sampson then introduced Women of Tocqueville 10th Anniversary Co-chairs, Kristy Faus and Carol March, thanking them for their service. The Women of Tocqueville 10th Anniversary Dinner and Celebration will be held on Friday, September 28 at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science and will include the presentation of the 2018 J. Erik Jonsson Volunteer Award – United Way’s highest volunteer honor.
Women of Tocqueville are a dynamic group of women, made up of business leaders from all sectors, who work together to create positive, long-term change in the North Texas community. Members volunteer as youth mentors, meet with Texas legislators about improving child care standards, and travel to Washington, D.C. to advocate on Capitol Hill- all to empower people in our community to better their lives.
