The Plaza at Preston Center is excited to announce that the California based retail company AETHER is arriving in style via the AETHERstream on Friday, Nov. 23 through Saturday, Dec. 29.  AETHER will be located behind the newly constructed five-story building and open for business Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5p.m.

 

This is a first for The Plaza at Preston Center to welcome a temporary shop of this kind.  AETHER is well known by outdoor enthusiasts nationwide.  Without a traditional brick and mortar store front, AETHER has developed the AETHERstream to reach existing fans as well as new customers across the country.  AETHER has compiled a collection of outerwear, bottoms, knits and accessories for both men and women, which will all be for sale in the coming weeks at The Plaza at Preston Center.

 

AETHER teamed up with Paris-based designer Thierry Gaugain to create the ultimate shop on wheels.  Designed to be a concept shop on wheels, the store will tour the country bringing AETHER products directly to the customer, whether that be in downtown Manhattan or the ski resorts of the Rockies.

AETHER completely gutted the interior and prepared to redesign it from the floor up. The company founders, Jonah Smith and Palmer West, conducted an extensive search for a designer who could translate their ideas and desires into a mobile extension of the brand. This led them straight to Thierry Gaugain, who has worked side by side with Phillipe Starck who has designed a multitude of interior spaces, appliances, motorcycles, and yachts.  When it came to the Airstream, Thierry immediately understood what AETHER was looking to accomplish and used his vast array of design experience to bring their mission to life.

After successful stops in Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Boston and
Austin, the AETHERstream lands in Dallas on November 23rd, and will be open for business for 5 weeks. 

ABOUT THE AETHERstream:

• The flooring is 11” reclaimed oak floor from Carlisle Wide Plank Floors.

• The sofa and table are custom made by Environment Furniture, who uses sustainably
harvested wood as well as repurposed materials that would have otherwise been discarded.

• Almost all of the objects found in the AETHERstream were personally selected by
Thierry from the Paris Flea Market.

• The AETHERstream will carry key pieces from the AETHER fall/winter and spring collections.

 

The Plaza at Preston Center is much more than a place to shop.  It is a gathering place, a
strolling place and a place to have fun with family and friends. 

Found at the southeast corner of Preston Road and Northwest Highway in the heart of University Park, The Plaza at Preston Center contains over 30 retail and dining options that cater to the Park Cities and the surrounding areas.  From national and local brands, anyone can find anything to fit their fancy at The Plaza at Preston Center.
