UPFD will conduct a second Citizens’ Fire Academy this spring. Classes start Tuesday, March 19 at 6:45 p.m. The program is open to those 18 and older who live or work in University Park. Class sessions will be held on consecutive Tuesday nights, for nine weeks. All classes will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the fire department at 3800 University Blvd. or the department’s fire training center on Fondren Avenue.
 
All Academy participants will receive hands-on training and get a close-up look at department functions and procedures. 
 
Curriculum will include:
  • Emergency medical services techniques
  • Special rescue operations techniques
  • The opportunity to ride on the engine to an emergency call
To enroll, or obtain more information, call the department’s administrative secretary at 214-987-5380.  The spring program is open to the first 12 persons who apply.
