Highland Park High School's varsity football team won a thrilling game over Mesquite Poteet on Thursday by scoring a two-point conversion with only 52 seconds left in the final quarter, putting the Scots up 20-19, which was the final score.

Here are some of the stats from the game:

  • Highland Park had a total of 257 offensive yards — 170 on the ground and 87 through the air.
  • HP quarterback Jet Tuma completed 6 of 14 passing attempts and ran 15 times for 65 yards.
  • The leading rusher for the Scots was Hank Howard, who gained 84 offensive yards on 16 attempts.
  • Highland Park's leading receiver was Anthony Vallera, who made three catches for 78 yards.

This win puts the Scots at a 5-1 record for the season. Highland Park's next game is against West Mesquite at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Highlander Stadium.
