OCTOBER 2

BURGLARY OF BUILDING

At approximately 11:03 AM, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary of a building in the 3700 block of Crescent Avenue. The homeowner stated that his house was broken into overnight and many items of value were taken. The home was under construction at the time, so the man and his wife were not present when the burglary occurred after 8:00 PM the night before. 


OCTOBER 3

IDENTITY THEFT 

Police responded to a walk-in identity theft report at the lobby of HPDPS. The complainant stated that an unknown person had used his social security number to open a phone account with Verizon wireless without his permission. The account states that the victim had unknowingly accrued $1,582 in fees. 


OCTOBER 4

FAILURE TO LEAVE ID AT ACCIDENT

At approximately 9:45 AM, police received a call from a woman claiming that her vehicle was damaged while it was parked outside of the Bird Bakery at the HPSV. The woman stated that she arrived at the bakery at 8:30 PM, parked her car in the parking lot, and then returned at 9:30 AM to notice that her vehicle was parked up on the curb and against a tree. It appears as though someone hit her car and fled while she was in the bakery. 

THEFT OF PROPERTY 

Police received a call at approximately 11:45 AM informing them of a theft that occurred in HPSV. When police arrived on the scene, a boutique director informed them that on October 1, while inventorying the store after closing time, a black and brown men's leather belt was found to be missing. She reviewed the store's security footage and determined that a male subject took the belt from a shelf and slipped it into the purse of his female companion. The two then left the store without paying. 

BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE 

At approximately 6:00 PM, a police officer was dispatched to the 3800 block of Miramar Drive in regards to a burglary of a motor vehicle that had occurred the night before. The victim advised police that between 9:30 PM on October 3 and 7:30 AM on October 4, an unknown subject had entered her vehicle without consent and removed some clothing items, sunglasses, and a vehicle insurance card. 


OCTOBER 6 

BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE

At approximately 9:35 AM, a police officer was dispatched to the 3800 block of Shenandoah Avenue in response to a reported burglarized motor vehicle. The victim stated that someone had removed the third-row seat of his vehicle without permission between the hours of 10:30 PM on October 5 and 9:00 AM the following morning. 

THEFT OF PROPERTY 

An officer was dispatched to the 3500 block of Harvard Avenue in regards to reports of stolen lawn equipment. The victim advised police that an unknown person had removed a lawnmower and a weedeater from the parkway without consent. The theft appears to have occurred between 4:10 and 4:40 PM. 


OCTOBER 7 

BURGLARY OF BUILDING 

At approximately 2:51 PM, an officer was dispatched to the 3600 block of Shenandoah Avenue in response to a reported bicycle theft. The victim stated that his bicycle had been stolen from his detached garage. The theft appears to have occurred between 8:00 AM on October 6 and 7:20 AM the next day.

THEFT OF PROPERTY 

A victim contacted HPDPS communications at approximately 7:30 PM to report that her purse had been stolen while she was at the Anthropologie store in Highland Park Village. She set her purse down somewhere in the saleroom, found an article of clothing she was interested in, went to try it on, and realized she had left her purse. The purse was gone when she returned, along with its contents (her wallet and keys).
