BLVD Celebrates Grand Opening

Highlighting its leasing momentum and the completion of its fourth phase, the BLVD mixed-use development at SMU Boulevard and Greenville Avenue, celebrated on Sept. 19 with a grand opening for investors, business, political, and community leaders and guests.

The BLVD’s ownership, a joint venture of Prescott Realty Group, AREA Property Partners, and Northwestern Mutual,  led tours of a model residential unit, the fitness center, the roof-top pool deck and clubhouse at the transit oriented development, which features 417 residential units in addition to the 9,100-square feet of commercial space located on the ground level.

The function drew a large crowd and included remarks by Prescott Realty Group President Vance Detwiler, Councilmember Angela Hunt, and Prescott Realty Group Managing Director-Multifamily Taylor Stone. The event was capped off with the placement of the project’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design ® (LEED) Silver certification plaque, by TexEnergy’s Jeremy Velasquez.

To earn the LEED Silver Certification, the BLVD was evaluated in seven categories: sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environment quality, innovation in design and regional priority. Residents at the BLVD will have access to an electric car charging station and they will be able to enjoy Energy Star appliances and windows and Green label carpet. The development also features a rain water harvesting system. The mixed-use development sits on the site of the old Shamburger Lumber Co., a former brownfield that was cleaned up through a cooperative effort by the developers of the property, the cities of Dallas and University Park and the State of Texas.

“We could not be more pleased with how BLVD turned out. It is a great addition to the area and will continue to energize SMU Boulevard with its restaurants and residents,” Stone said.

Pankey added that the grand opening culminates the fourth phase of Prescott’s neighborhood redevelopment plan. “We are thrilled with the results. Our team did a great job,” he said. Architect for the BLVD is Humphreys & Partners Architects, LP and Andres Construction is the general contractor. Greystar Property Company is the property manager.
