Spring Fling is an exciting lower school tradition at The Covenant School, at which students get to participate in all sorts of spring and outdoor activities. The date is a complete surprise to the students, so it makes the day extra special. This year students were greeted to the Covenant State Fair by our own version of Big Tex (Covenant dad, Shayne Whitehead). Then students were served popcorn and lemonade and waited with anticipation for “Soggy Bottoms” to begin (dunk tank with Head of School, Kyle Queal and Lower School Director, Melanie Sharpless!) After they were both dunked twice, the kids moved on to nine different events including: a Pie Pan Bubble Blow, sand volleyball, a Harlem Shake dance party, a 50" inflatable obstacle course, airbrush tattoos, a Carnival Can Toss, the Balloon Boom Blast, a petting zoo and tug of war!

Students then ate lunch together, which was a corn dog (fried on site, just like the fair!) and after eating, all of the students and Lower School Director, Melanie Sharpless, did the Harlem Shake! Then they were served cotton candy and made their way to Hog Heaven, where Athletic Director Brice Helton and third grade teacher Roni Jackson competed to see who could catch and hold the pig for ten seconds.

This year’s Spring Fling was a great day for all students and families to enjoy!
