The Town of Highland Park Harvey R. “Bum” Bright Library is continuing to offer important health literacy programs with inviting the local Alzheimer Association to speak on Recognizing the Signs of Dementia. This presentation is open to the public, and will be held at the Highland Park Library in Town Hall on Thursday, November 7, at 5:30 p.m. No reservations required to attend.

Becoming forgetful is a natural part of aging. However, knowing the signs and symptoms of dementia is essential to well-being. Dementia is the umbrella term used for many of the reasons for memory loss caused by diseases or cellular-degenerations that effect the brain. Most commonly known are Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Dementia with Lewy Bodies, and Huntington’s Disease. The Alzheimer’s Association offers this educational presentation, which is based off years of research and study by physicians.  Attendees will leave with information they can use to talk to their doctors, and ideas of how to keep their brains active. Free publications will also be available from the HP Library to anyone that wishes to take home more information about the topic.
