HPHS Boys Cross Country Win District Championship

Congratulations to the Running Scots as both Varsity and JV teams won 11-5A district championships Thursday morning at Myers Park in McKinney.  The varsity team of Pierce Whiteman, Brett Jacot, Ethan Moss, Jack Payne, Charlie Campbell, Hunter Hegi, and Tommy Kerr took first overall with a low score of 50 points to 53 for runner up Dallas Jefferson.  Leading the team with another outstanding performance was Pierce Whiteman who ran a personal best time of 16:57.  Whiteman and Brett Jacot both finished in the top ten individual standings in the District 11-5A and received medals.  

The Golden Spike Award goes to Whiteman who placed 5th overall and lowered his PR by 30 seconds.  Jack Payne and Tommy Kerr also ran PRs for varsity.  The junior varsity was led by Foster Hudson who was district champion in the individual standings and ran a personal best time of 18:27.  11 Running Scots received medals placing in the top 15 in the JV division and 14 of 15 runners ran personal best times on Thursday.  The Running Schools had 17 or 22 runners in total turn in PRs at the district meet.  The Running Scots qualified to compete in the Region II Championship meet to be held at Jesse Owens Complex in Dallas on Monday, October 28th.  Go Scots!!!
