DALLAS: The morning after several tornadoes ripped through our city, the sun shined brightly Monday, October 21, on the Omni Hotel downtown. The hotel’s Dallas Ballroom was overflowing with a sold out crowd of 1,100 people coming together to CELEBRATE LIFE. Thanks to the incredible generosity of so many, Council for Life's 18th annual Celebrating Life Luncheon raised a record breaking $1.25 million for organizations that assist North Texans facing unplanned pregnancies.

Grammy-nominated and multiple Dove award-winning singer and songwriter Nicole C. Mullen moved the audience as she passionately and intimately shared her poignant personal story and how Life was threaded throughout. She shared her unapologetically pro-life position and reminded attendees of the value of every human life.

A woman of strong faith and an active advocate for life and adoption, Nicole explained the important role of fathers to rise up to the responsibility of caring for their unborn child. Her powerful words, interspersed with the celestial beauty of her singing, evoked palpable emotion from all in attendance and stirred them to a standing ovation in solidarity for life and God’s redeeming love.

Philanthropic and community leaders Lisa Luby Ryan and Jennie Gilchrist served as the 2019 Luncheon Co-Chairs. Honorary Chairs were Jackie and Steve Green (Hobby Lobby and Museum of the Bible) as well as Anne and Norm Miller (Interstate Batteries). Council for Life Board Member Shannon Graham served as Underwriting Chair.

The luncheon featured a special video highlighting the life-affirming work of Council for Life and agencies they support across the Metroplex. The video may be viewed here.

Since 2001, Council for Life has raised more than $8.27 million to fund more than 50 agencies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with life-affirming missions relating to the complex issues surrounding unplanned pregnancies. Council for Life’s 2019 President, Cathy Sisk, shares, “Council for Life is grateful to our luncheon underwriters, patrons and guests for helping us surpass our goal and making the funding of our exemplary beneficiaries possible.”

The proceeds from this year’s luncheon will benefit 14 agencies including: Aim for Success (now part of Just Say YES), Birth Choice of Dallas, Bridges Safehouse, Catholic Pro-Life Community, ChristianWorks for Children, Fort Worth Pregnancy Center, Metroplex Women’s Center, Mid Cities Pregnancy Center, Pregnancy Resource Center of Rockwall and Mesquite, Prestonwood Pregnancy Center, Thrive Women’s Clinic, White Rose Women’s Center, Women’s Choice Resource Center and YoungLives, a ministry of Young Life.
