Vogel Alcove won the Organization of the Year $1M- $10M at D CEO’s 2019 Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards, which were presented in partnership with Communities Foundation of Texas. Over 400 organizations in the Dallas and Fort Worth area submitted nominations for the awards. Vogel Alcove was one of five finalists, along with All Stars Project of Dallas, Café Momentum, Klyde Warren Park, My Possibilities and Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.

Honoring nonprofit professionals and organizations that continue to make a positive impact on the community, D CEO’s Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards also recognize the efforts of the corporations that support the local organizations, such as executives lending their leadership expertise to providing support through financial donations, in-kind services and sponsorships.

More than 600 attended the awards ceremony at the Frontiers of Flight Museum.  The awards were presented by Christine Perez, editor of D CEO,  Monica Egert Smith, chief relationship officer of Communities Foundation of Texas and Will Maddox, associate editor of D CEO. Accepting on behalf of Vogel Alcove was Karen Hughes, President and CEO. She talked about the real faces of homelessness, briefly mentioning the programs at Vogel Alcove and thanked everyone at D CEO and the Communities Foundation of Texas for their support.

Vogel Alcove is an early childhood education and Parent Opportunity Center that is working to Break the Cycle of Poverty for homeless children and their families in Dallas. Vogel Alcove provides educational, developmental and therapeutic services to children and families affected by homelessness. Using its “Two-Generational” approach to solving homelessness, services are provided to client families through the early childhood education program and Parent Opportunity Department. All of these services are provided for free, in a safe and nurturing school environment, in which the families can learn and grow together.

Vogel Alcove is a 501c3 nonprofit agency which provides therapeutic early childhood services, school-age programs and family support services for homeless children ages six weeks to 12 years old, and their families.

Fueled by extensive research from the Casey Foundation, Vogel Alcove features “two-generation” approach to support homeless children and their parents.
