The Highland Park Harvey R. “Bum” Bright Library will be hosting an evening with speaking professional Liz Navarro on how to effectively speak about your purpose and passion to engage listeners and activate new opportunities. This presentation will be held on Thursday evening, October 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the Highland Park Town Hall Council Chamber. The public is invited to attend the program.

“Whether you are networking, making a pitch, or trying to ace an interview, everyone needs to know how to talk about their work and tell their story in a way that leaves a strong impression,” said Navarro, who is a past SMU TEDx speaker. She is also a writer, educator, and communications strategist who empowers entrepreneurs and professionals to find their voices, amplify them, and put their ideas in front of the right audiences. Some of her experience includes teaching public speaking courses at SMU and Pepperdine University.

Navarro’s presentation will provide strategies for participants to be able to effectively speak (or write) about their work, passion, or goals through focusing on their audience’s needs, using language that connects, and presenting with confidence. Participants will be able to walk away with strategies they can apply to many aspects of their professional and personal lives, not just public speaking. No reservations are required to be part of this informative evening, and all are welcome to attend.
