Venise Stuart is paired with longtime friend and collaborator Patti Flowers
who will receive the 2nd Annual Fashion Notes Designer Award.
Venise Stuart is the Honorary Chair for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League’s 6th Annual Fashion Notes Designer Award Luncheon, Auctions and Style Show on Monday, November 4th at The Ritz-Carlton. She will work with her longtime friend and collaborator Patti Flowers who will receive the 2nd Annual Fashion Notes Designer Award. The duo are paired for another major event in the coming months. Venise is the President of the Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden and Patti will chair the Mad Hatter’s Tea next April for the organization.
The two first met when serving with the Junior League of Dallas over 20 years ago. As longtime friends, they have worked tirelessly together and separately on behalf of the Dallas Symphony and many cultural arts organizations in Dallas.
Venise and Patti have served on the Dallas Symphony boards in various capacities and each has chaired the DSOL’s Presentation Ball. They have a mutual respect of one another for what each does for the Dallas community. Patti has designed many of Venise’s gowns and dresses for numerous charity events.
Venise is a prominent civic leader in the Dallas area and her long history with the Dallas Symphony and the Dallas Symphony League began when she joined the Junior Group of the DSOL in 1986. She was honored to have served as a member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Board of Governors from 2001-2004.
In addition to serving as the current president of the Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum, Venise is co-chairing the Woman of Distinction Luncheon for Girl Scouts of North Texas on October 18. She holds leadership positions with Junior League of Dallas and AWARE Dallas and is past president of both Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society and Les Femmes du Monde. Venise received the 2019 UTD Distinguished Alumni Award this past March where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business & Pubic Administration. She is a graduate of Leadership Dallas.
Venise and her husband, Larry, have held season tickets for both Classical and Pops Concerts since the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center opened in 1989. Venise considers the majority of her life-long friends to be her 'symphony friends' who she has served with since that time.
Patti is a native Texan who spent her career in the luxury fashion industry. She began designing over 35 years ago. When the exclusive Dallas retailer Stanley Korshak opened its first bridal salon, Flowers was asked to be the in-house designer specializing in bridal, evening, and debutante gowns. Today, Flowers is recognized as one of the premier bridal and fine apparel designers in Texas.
In 2006, Flowers launched the Patti Flowers Design Studio. Since that time, she has dressed many of the most fashionable women in Texas. In early 2012, she expanded to her new studio in the Uptown neighborhood of Dallas and debuted The Studio Collection. Known for her refined approach to design and deep desire to highlight the woman wearing the gown, the Patti Flowers brand is both timeless and modern with exquisite couture quality. The Patti Flowers Design Studio works with industry experts to ensure the latest and finest selections of silks, laces, and embellishments are available from around the world. All couture gowns are created at the Dallas Studio.
Flowers' designs are featured in numerous publications including: Women's Wear Daily, People Magazine, D Magazine, Modern Luxury and the coffee table book Outdoor Weddings by Mallory Samson. She received the Distinguished Alumna Award from Texas Tech/College of Human Sciences in 2011.
Fashion Notes will kick off holiday celebrations with the luncheon and style show highlighting fashion design and the Dallas Symphony community. The morning begins at 10:30 a.m. with a Mystery Notes Reception, a reimagined silent auction and Designer Award Presentation and Show followed by a Luncheon Live Auction. Stunning fall fashions from Stanley Korshak, Patti Flowers Design Studio and Kid Biz will be featured modeled by League members and their families, past and present DSOL Debutantes and members of the DSO family.
The event is chaired by Kristin Cordiak and Kim Brannon is the DSOL President.
The luncheon is sponsored by Veritex Community Bank for the 6th year. The Ritz-Carlton is the hotel sponsor. Other sponsors include Stanley Korshak, Kid Biz, RBC Wealth Management and Sullivan and Tillery Group.
Benefiting: Proceeds from the event will benefit the Dallas Symphony Association and its education and community outreach programs. Some of the quality outreach programs the League supports are: DSO on the Go, Community Concerts and Performances, Cecil and Ida Green Youth Concerts, Symphony Yes!, DSO Kids and Young Strings and Young Strings Musicians.
