Wendell and Suzie Patterson cast their vote

Following Sunday morning worship service and Church in the Dog Park service, members and friends of Central Christian Church gathered in fellowship hall to celebrate Souper Bowl of Caring. In addition to enjoying a delicious soup and salad luncheon, the church raised food and money for North Dallas Shared Ministries.

North Dallas Shared Ministries is a charitable outreach organization serving some of Dallas’ poorest residents.

Observing the big game day, votes for the favored team were cast by dropping food or a cash donation in a box marked Eagles or Patriots.  Of course, a third box was added for the hometown team for Cowboy die-hard fans.

Everyone who attended the Souper Bowl party was a winner, enjoying a selection of hearty homemade soups. David Aston brought his signature Matzo Ball; Jayne Hawley a Potato Leek; Shelia Huffman, Black Bean and Becky Riggins, Lentil.  Chopped salad, corn bread, yeast rolls and taco flavored crackers accompanied the soups.

Congregation favorites like Margaret Wilson’s Red Velvet Cake, Carol Archer’s vanilla pound cake and Susie Paterson’s chocolate brownies were choices for dessert.

It was another souper day of caring and sharing at Central.  Worship is at 11 a.m. Sunday morning. All are welcome!
