HP POLICE BLOTTER: February 26 - March 4

FEBRUARY 26

FOUND PROPERTY 

At approximately 9:00 AM, a pink wallet was dropped off at the Highland Park Police dispatch center. It was found on the ground near the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Golf Avenue. The wallet and items were logged for safe keeping in the event that the owner attempts to recover it. 

IDENTITY THEFT 

An officer was dispatched to the 4700 block of Drexel Drive to take a walk-in report of a possible identity theft. The victim stated that someone had been applying for loans in his name. His credit score was damaged by a hard inquiry. In one of the emails he received, there was a possible address for the person who requested the loan. The address was given to the police. 


FEBRUARY 27 


CRIMINAL MISCHIEF 

At approximately 12:00 PM, an officer was called by a store manager in the HPSV who reported an attempted burglary. There were pry marks on the back door jam made by an unknown person between the hours of 6:00 PM on February 22 and 9:00 AM on February 23. The door's locking mechanism had also been damaged. 

DAMAGE TO PRIVATE PROPERTY 

An officer was dispatched to the 4600 block of Edmondson for a report of a burglary at 10:57 AM. The victim's wife stated that her husband had noticed his car had been burglarized while it was parked in the driveway overnight. The navigation/radio system had been removed without permission. 


FEBRUARY 28 


BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE 

At 2:05 AM, the police were alerted to a possible BMV in the 4500 block of Bordeaux Avenue. The arriving officer observed that a pickup truck had been accessed via a broken window. It appears that someone used a small object to put pressure on the window and break it. A pair of sunglasses and some cash had been stolen. 


MARCH 2 


BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE 

At approximately 10:38 AM, an officer met with a victim who stated that his truck had been burglarized while parked in his driveway off of Lomo Alto Drive. Jumper cables, sunglasses, golf clubs, and a Nikon Rangefinder had been stolen. 

BURGLARY OF A HABITATION 

An officer was dispatched to the 4200 block of Lomo Alto Drive in regards to a mailbox that had been burglarized. The reporting person told the officer that the mail carrier said the mailbox's master lock had been broken into. It is unclear if any packages or mail had been stolen. 

IDENTITY THEFT 

At approximately 2:10 PM, an officer was dispatched to the 3800 block of Shenandoah Street on a report of identity theft. The homeowner at the address told police that someone had made an online purchase using his debit card without consent. The card was canceled and a new card was provided to the victim. 


MARCH 3 


IDENTITY THEFT

A reporting person living on the 3400 block of Dartmouth Avenue reported that someone had used the identity of his wife to obtain services from the University of Pheonix. The couple has been charged thousands of dollars from the University, even though his wife had never used their services. 


MARCH 4


BURGLARY OF HABITATION 

At 4:10 PM, two officers investigated a possible burglary of a habitation in the 4500 block of Lorraine Avenue. The resident stated that she arrived home and found the side door of her property open. Some things looked out of place, so the officers cleared the house. The reporting person stated that she lived alone and had left the exterior side of the door open, but she thought she had locked the interior door. There were no signs of forced entry. Several thousands of dollars worth of jewelry was stolen. 

FAILURE TO LEAVE ID AT ACCIDENT 

At approximately 7:32 PM, an officer responded to a possible FLID. Upong his arrival to the 4500 block of Westway Avenue, he was met by a caller who stated that his vehicle was damaged while he was away on a trip. It appears as though a large commerical truck may have hit it.
