Dallas Marathon Announces Cotton Patch Café as Title Sponsor of Inaugural Last Man Running Pledge Promotion

96.3 KSCS’s Hawkeye Will Start Last, Pass Runners to Raise Donations

October 24, 2012 (Dallas) – The Dallas Marathon board of trustees today announced Cotton Patch Café, Inc. as the title sponsor of the first Last Man Running pledge promotion. The program benefits the primary philanthropic endeavor of Cotton Patch Café, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC). The Dallas-based casual dining restaurant company has pledged to donate up to $25,000 to TSRHC through the Last Man Running promotion. TSRHC is also the primary beneficiary of the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon.

The Cotton Patch Café Last Man Running is a pledge promotion by the Dallas Marathon that pits a local celebrity, running either the half or full marathon, placed at the very back of the last corral along the start line. This “Last Man” will raise pledges for donations to TSRHC for each runner the Last Man passes. In their role as title sponsor, Cotton Patch Café has pledged $4 for each runner passed.

“We are thrilled to have Cotton Patch Café help us launch a new initiative that we plan to make a fixture of our December race,” said Kevin Snyder, chairman of the Dallas Marathon board of trustees. “I look forward to seeing Last Man Running grow as an annual highlight of our marathon and to further increasing donations to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.”

Mark “Hawkeye” Louis, half of the award-winning duo from Hawkeye and Dorsey in the Morning, the longest-running FM radio morning show in Dallas-Fort Worth, will serve as the promotion’s inaugural celebrity participant. In addition to the support of corporations such as title sponsor Cotton Patch Café, individual contributors may donate an amount of their choice toward Hawkeye’s run by visiting dallasmarathon.com/last-man-running.

“This challenge is an exciting way to support Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and to be part of the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon,” said Larry Marshall, president of Cotton Patch Café. “Our restaurants have raised over $350,000 over the last several years for the hospital, and we’re proud to continue our involvement.”
