SCOTS SQUEAK OUT OVERTIME WIN AGAINST MESQUITE POTEET 60-57
 
The Highland Park Men’s Basketball team pulled out an incredibly tough game last night at home against a Mesquite Poteet team that refused to quit. The Scots once again got off to a very slow start allowing the visitors to race out to a 10-0 lead. The Scots however rallied and managed to take a 14-12 lead by the end of the first quarter. The home team lead by 5 at halftime but were never able to pull away from the feisty Poteet team. The Pirates hit a 3 point shot with 00:03 left in regulation to force overtime. The Scots played great defense down the stretch leading to a 57-50 lead with 1:20 left in the game en route to the final score of 60-57.
 
Preston Landes was outstanding with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 0 turnovers. Alex Staffaroni added 10 and Cade Wagner 9 including a huge 3 pointer in OT to go with 7 rebounds. The Scots forced 19 Poteet turnovers compared to just 7 for the Scots.
 
Will Enzor and Reilly Seebold are still sidelined but HP welcomed Prince Dorbah, Finn Corwin and Carson Bryant from the state champion football team in time for the Scots 2nd district game. The Scots are now 12-8 on the season and 1-1 in district play.
 
Highland Park JV Gold again took care of business posting a 47-40 win in the opening game. Drew Scott was the lead scorer in this game with 21 followed by Jack Feld with 14.
