SCOTS PULL AWAY FROM LOVEJOY IN 2ND HALF 61-43 ON SENIOR NIGHT

The Highland Park Men’s Varsity Basketball Team notched an impressive win in the final home game of season on Friday night. Highlander Filed House was packed for Senior Night honoring parents and senior players for the last time in front of the home crowd. The fans were treated to a halftime performance by the Highland Park Belles, cheerleaders and Highland Park Sparkles. On the court the Scots did not disappoint delivering a great team effort in running away from Lovejoy High School 61-43 with a big 2nd half. Both teams had already secured a post-season playoff spot prior to Friday’s game. It was the Scots however who appeared ready for the challenge of playoff competition.

Will Enzor led the Scots with 25 points, 4 steals and 5 rebounds, Alex Staffaroni added 9 points and 2 blocked shots. Cade Wagner chipped in 7 points to go with 4 rebounds. Overall the team returned to form from 3-point range hitting 44% from beyond the arch - a key indicator for the team’s chances of success in the post-season.

The team is now 20-11 overall and 9-4 in District 15 5A.

The Scots' final district game is Tuesday night on the road against North Forney High School. HP needs a win for a chance to move into 2nd place in the district. Playoffs are scheduled to start Tuesday, February 20 with a possibility of a district playoff game on Friday, February 16 to determine final playoff seedings.
