On Saturday, February 23, eighth grader Caleb Jones represented The Covenant School in the Junior Division of the Beal Bank Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair. During the three hour morning round, three judges conducted one-on-one interviews where each student presented and defended his or her project. During the lunch break, judges selected one project from each of the seventeen categories to compete in the grand prize round. Caleb received a call and returned for the afternoon round, where he was interviewed by four new judges. Caleb was awarded three prizes: First Place in Behavioral and Social Sciences, Special Award for Outstanding Research in Psychology from the American Psychological Association, and the Naval Science Award from the U.S. Department of the Navy/Marine Corps.

In a field dominated by larger public schools, Caleb was one of two students from a private school to win a first place award. In addition, he has been invited to participate in the Exxon Mobile State Science and Engineering Fair in San Antonio at the end of March.
