HPHS senior Alexandra Thornton crushed her first national competition as a junior Olympic weightlifter on Saturday, February 16 in Chicago, Illinois.  She went six for six on her lifts - snatching 84kg and clean and jerking 105kg to post a total of 189kg. Her performance clinched three gold medals, a National Championship and placed her to the top ten junior Olympic weightlifters across the nation, securing her spots on both Team USA’s Junior Worlds Team and Junior Pan Am Team. This outstanding achievement represents the culmination of countless hours of practice and a laser focus that has not wavered over a decade.
