HPHS Senior Alexandra Thornton closed out her youth Olympic weightlifting career with a rock solid performance at the American Open in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 8, 2018. It was her fifth time lifting at the American Open, which at age 17 is in and of itself a remarkable achievement. She snatched 83kg and clean and jerked 103kg and made all six of her lifts for a 186kg total. These were all new personal records for Alexandra. She will continue her lifting career as a junior lifter in 2019.
