DALLAS STARTUP WEEK NAMES ABE MINKARA AS HEADLINING SPEAKER

The DEC Network, a 501c3 nonprofit driving innovation and economic impact by helping entrepreneurs start, build and grow their businesses, has named the keynote speaker for its seventh annual Dallas Startup Week (DSW) powered by Capital One. Abe Minkara, founding partner of Legacy Knight and the former managing director of Mark Cuban Companies, will be the headlining speaker from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 3. Dallas Startup Week runs Aug. 1-5.

Minkara was recognized by D CEO Magazine as one of the 500 most influential business leaders in North Texas last year. His company, Legacy Knight, provides exclusive investment access and tailored advisory services to ultra-high net worth families and family offices. At Mark Cuban Companies, Minkara managed the billionaire’s “Shark Tank” portfolio of investments with a focus on technology, logistics and consumer product goods.

Minkara will be interviewed at the event by The DEC Network’s Chairman Emeritus, Trey Bowles, in an intimate fireside chat. They’ll talk about the wide definition of entrepreneurship, as well as the good, bad and the ugly of the entrepreneurial endeavors Abe has witnessed.

“I’m thrilled to be speaking before the Dallas Startup Week audience,” Minkara said. “I hope to provide practical insights they can use from my experience with growth strategy, pitches and capital allocation.”

Dallas Startup Week will feature notable speakers and content for aspiring entrepreneurs, established small businesses and corporate allies, and will be held both virtually and in person at Southern Methodist University following all CDC guidelines for social distancing. The conference is recognized as the largest event that drives entrepreneurial success, economic impact and innovation in Dallas-Fort Worth.

“We’re fortunate to have Abe, with his remarkable success of working with launch-stage companies, as our headline speaker for Dallas Startup Week,” said Bill Chinn, CEO of The DEC Network.

DSW also offers three summits, an Official Launch Party, a community celebration for all attendees to join and help kick off the event, and Startup Alley, where local small business owners can showcase their businesses in an expo hall format. Information on how business owners can apply for a spot at Startup Alley will be made available closer to the event.

Registration for the five-day event is now open.
