The New York Times bestseller and multiple award-winning author Amor Towles will be the public keynote speaker for the 26th annual Highland Park Literary Festival on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 7 p.m. at Highland Park High School. The evening Keynote Event is free and open to the community and is sponsored by La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas. The author will also address high school students during an assembly on February 24.
Towles’s latest novel, The Lincoln Highway (Viking), became available on October 5 and immediately hit the New York Times bestseller list at the #1 spot. Those who purchase the book from LitFest partner Interabang books can submit “LITFEST” online or mention it at the cash register and 15 percent of the purchase price will go to support the festival. Towle’s other two well-known novels, Rules of Civility and A Gentleman in Moscow, were also on the New York Times bestseller list.
The festival celebrates literature and authors through writing workshops, writing contests, parent and student book clubs, a movie event, and a student-run open mic event. There will be more than 30 accomplished novelists, journalists, poets, songwriters, and playwrights participating in workshops during the high school’s regularly scheduled English classes on Friday, February 25. A special awards breakfast is also held to recognize outstanding student works.
HP LitFest is made possible by the generous donations from La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas, HP Arts, HPHS PTA, Interabang Books, PC Tag, and families of the school district and beyond. It is further supported by a fundraising event, FlickFest.
