The City of University Park cites rain and inappropriate use of the Germany Park soccer field as reasons for its closure. They're asking residents to keep off the grass—and they're serious about it—you could be fined for violating the City's request. The track is still available for exercise.
It seems the Park Cities are experiencing a bout of bad luck with fields lately, since UP Police reported vandalism to the football field at Highlander Stadium on July 16. According to the official police document, HPISD Boys Athletic Coordinator Randy Allen noted roughly $2,500 of damage to the field and school signs at Highland Park High School. Highlander Stadium has been closed to the public all summer due to the installation of new turf.

Until further notice, the Germany Park playing field is closed to all activity. The combination of recent heavy rainfall and non-sactioned use of the field by soccer camps, a men's socccer league and fitness classes resulted in significant damage to several sections of the playing surface.
By City ordinance, anyone seen using the field is subject to a citation or prosecution. During the turf's recovery period, the track will remain open for public use.
