TEACH FOR AMERICA DFW ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Teach For America (TFA) DFW is proud to announce the appointment of its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), David Simpson. Simpson is a Dallas native and a proud alumnus of Dallas ISD schools.

Simpson has an extensive background and career in nonprofits, serving many of the nation’s top organizations. Most recently, he was COO of HopeWorks in Memphis, TN and brings more than 14 years of nonprofit management experience to Teach For America DFW. Simpson follows in the footsteps of Rea Foster, former Teach For America DFW COO and current Teach For America DFW Executive Director. In his new role, Simpson will oversee the internal business operations of the organization, including finance, human resources, and marketing & communications. He will also be responsible for ensuring the organization drives forward key initiatives identified by its new Executive Director in the areas of culture transformation, advancing racial equity and Fort Worth impact.

“I am thrilled to start my new position as Teach For America DFW’s Chief Operating Officer, tackling the educational inequalities facing DFW students around the metroplex,” said Simpson. “As a native Dallasite and someone who attended Dallas ISD schools, I know firsthand the importance of opportunities for students, beginning at a young age. I look forward to working with my new team members to advance the educational experience for students around the city.”

“The Teach For America DFW team is excited to have David join us in our mission of expanding access and opportunity for children,” said Rea Foster, Teach For America DFW Executive Director. “We are confident his experience, leadership and passion for education will be tremendous assets to both our organization, as well as to thousands of local students.”

Teach For America DFW is creating a monumental impact in education across the region. The organization has reached over 400,000 students in 3,400 classrooms throughout the metroplex to date. In the 2020-2021 school year alone, Teach For America DFW served 75,000 students.
