OCTOBER 17

Criminal Mischief
A 33-year-old resident reported at 8 a.m. that an unknown subject wrote the words "Death Wish" in red spray paint on a wall surrounding his backyard in the 3300 block of Dartmouth Avenue.

Criminal Mischief
A 55-year-old resident reported that an unknown subject(s) damaged her gray-slate tile steps located in the front of her residence between 7:25 a.m. and 8:05 a.m. in the 3100 block of St. Johns Drive.

Forgery
An 83-year-old resident reported at 11:10 a.m. in the 4500 block of Edmondson Avenue that two checks had been removed from his checkbook and someone had forged his signature and cashed both for a total of $1,650. The resident said the checks were made payable to a suspect who has the same last name as a woman he met on Match.com who had been over to his house prior to the incident.

Damage to Private Property
An officer witnessed a red 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix cross over a lane of traffic, jump a curb and crash into a two-foot-high stone wall at a speed of about 25 miles per hour at 11:44 a.m. in the 4200 block of Mockingbird Lane. After the accident, the 28-year-old passenger, who is a resident of San Antonio, exited the vehicle and said his father, the 53-year-old driver who is a resident of Mesquite, needed an ambulance. The officer noticed that the driver had "slow movements" but did not appear to have consumed any alcohol or drugs. The driver said he was unaware of what had happened after the accident, and his stomach was hurting. No HPDPS citations were issued, and the driver was transported to the Medical City of Dallas for observation.

Larceny
A 38-year-old resident reported at 8:21 p.m. that his $900 bicycle was stolen off his back porch, which is enclosed by a locked privacy fence, in the 3200 block of Drexel Drive.

OCTOBER 20

Vehicle Burglary
A 42-year-old resident of Haslet reported that an unknown suspect used a device to punch out the driver's side door lock of his burnt orange Ford King Ranch truck and took $20 in coins located in the console in the 4300 block of MacAurther Avenue.

OCTOBER 21

Failure to Leave ID
A 64-year-old Dallas resident reported that he was driving in the 4900 block of Preston Road when he was hit by a car that was changing lanes. Both drivers pulled over after the accident, and the suspect wrote down the victim's license plate number and promised to make future contact to resolve the situation, but no other information was exchanged, and the victim has not heard from the suspect since the accident. The victim has had about $200 in car damages repaired on his own.

OCTOBER 22

Found Property
An officer found a black Patagonia backpack containing diapers, children's blue jeans, Nike spandex pants and a baby book at 6:40 p.m. in Flippen Park in the 4400 block of N. Versailles Avenue.
