Lieutenants from left to right: Fields Dunston, Alexa May, Audrey Gruber, Emma Bailey and Caroline Magee

The Highland Belles Lieutenants recently performed at the Encore Creative Productions Officer Camp in Frisco. The camp, at the Frisco Convention Center, is designed for the top officers of drill teams and is renowned for its instruction of leadership, technique and unique, custom halftime routines.

After a rigorous and rewarding camp, the Highland Belle Lieutenants were awarded blue ribbons (the top level) for their kick and jazz performances.  For the first time since attending this camp, the Lieutenants also received two special awards for outstanding performance: the “Complete Package Award,” and the “Polish and Precision Award.”

The Lieutenants danced under the direction of Shannon Phillips, Highland Belles director and Emily Sanchez, assistant director.

Upon learning of the awards, Phillips said, “Congratulations to Fields, Alexa, Audrey, Emma, and Caroline. Our Lieutenants were so successful at this camp. Their home routine received superb feedback. Mrs. Sanchez and I are very impressed with their work ethic and positive attitudes. The leadership skills the girls developed while at camp will surely benefit the entire team this August when our practices begin for fall performances.”

The Highland Belles are Highland Park High School’s award-winning drill team.
