University Park voters will have the opportunity to elect the city's Mayor and four City Council members during the upcoming election on May 12.

UP Mayor Dick Davis is running for his current position and has no challengers, but there are currently five candidates vying to fill the four at-large Council seats. Here is information about each of the City Council candidates:

  • Bob Begert: Begert is an incumbent who was elected to the Council in 2010 and has also served on the UP Legislative Committee. He is an attorney and has lived in the city for more than 35 years.

  • Robert H. Clark: Clark is an incumbent who has been on the Council since 2008 and has also served on the UP Board of Adjustment. He is an architect and has lived in the city for more than 66 years.

  • Raquel Ibarra: Currently, Ibarra serves on the UP Capital Projects Review Committee. She is an engineer and has lived in the city for more than 20 years.

  • Dawn Moore: Currently, Moore serves on the UP Planning and Zoning Commission. She is an attorney and a CEO of a title company and has lived in the city for more than 27 years.

  • Thomas H. Stewart: Stewart is an incumbent who has been on the Council since 2010 and has also served on the UP Public Works Advisory Committee. He is a developer and general contractor and has lived in the city for more than 67 years.

All of the positions have concurrent two-year terms, and the elected officials do not receive compensation.

Early voting for the election will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from April 30 to May 4 and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 7-8 at University Park City Hall and various polling locations in Dallas County. On the actual Election Day, which is May 12, voters can cast their ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Highland Park Middle School.
