Yesterday, restrictions on outdoor watering in the Park Cities went into effect, which will last through Oct. 31, for residents and business operators.

The use of automatic sprinkler and irrigation systems is prohibited from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. everyday in Highland Park and University Park in an area-wide effort to conserve water. People can water with a can, hose or soaker hose during those hours.

Property owners who are caught violating the restrictions will be given a warning for their first offense. A ticket with a possible fine will be given on subsequent violations.

The City of Dallas is also adhering to outdoor watering restrictions during the same time period.
