VolunteerNow Hosts FREE Event to Celebrate Volunteerism, Showcase Nonprofits and Feature Hands-On Volunteer Projects

Dallas’ most comprehensive showcase of volunteerism and family fun is returning to Klyde Warren Park. The third annual Voly in the Park, hosted by VolunteerNow, one of the largest volunteer centers in the country, is Saturday, June 4, from noon to 4 p.m.

Dallas’ premier volunteerism festival will showcase more than 75 nonprofits, family-friendly performances and hands-on volunteer projects in one venue. There will be opportunities to learn about community issues and programs that support a wide range of causes, including animal advocacy, the arts, community gardening, domestic violence awareness, hunger relief, childhood education and more.

The free event celebrates volunteerism and promotes onsite volunteer registration on VOLY.org, VolunteerNow’s online platform that makes it quick and easy to match volunteers with their passions.

“Voly in the Park inspires volunteers, and potential volunteers, to get involved in their communities by bringing together nonprofit organizations, increasing awareness of their missions and offering fun activities in one setting,” VolunteerNow CEO Tammy Richards said. “North Texas is rich with service opportunities for people who want to help. We are excited about this year’s event as another chance to increase awareness about our community’s needs. There is something to inspire everyone at Voly in the Park.”

Nonprofits participating in the 2016 event include Bryan’s House, Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Society, Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, Dallas Heritage Village, Earth Day Texas, Education is Freedom, Equest Therapeutic Horsemanship, Magdalen House, Soul’s Harbor, Reading Partners North Texas, The Senior Source, Trinity River Mission, VNA Meals on Wheels and more. All of the interactive booths allow for onsite volunteer sign-up on VOLY.org.

This year’s Voly in the Park performances include Friday’s Foolery, Justin Phillip Brooks, Anita Martinez Ballet Folklorico, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Plano Children’s Theatre and Taps n’ Tunes.

In 2015, VolunteerNow engaged 40,000 volunteers who contributed more than 1.1 million volunteer hours in North Texas, valued at more than $28 million.  VolunteerNow matches volunteers to more than 2,200 area nonprofits and averages more than 112 volunteer referrals to those organizations every day. Since VOLY.org debuted in 2013, VolunteerNow has connected more than four times the number of volunteers to community organizations annually than before its inception.

“Voly in the Park is a great opportunity to spread the word about how volunteers can be beneficial to their community and the individuals around them,” said Brian Millage, Vogel Alcove

“We have 50 new possibilities to fulfill on our mission because of 2015 Voly in the Park.  Thank you,” said Mark Lombard, For Love and Art.

2016 Voly in the Park sponsors include Lyda Hill, NBC 5, and KERA.

“Volunteers have the power to change everything, and VOLY.org is the best way to connect volunteers with nonprofits in need of help,” Richards said.
