Featuring the 10th Annual Historic Home Tour 

What: Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society builds on its annual Home Tour with a new series of events, creating a “Home Tour Weekend”. The new weekend celebrates historic preservation and is designed to generate awareness of the role history and preservation play in enhancing the quality of life for everyone who lives and works in the Park Cities communities.

When: Thursday, April 12 - Sunday, April 15, 2012

  • Friday, April 13 New! First PCHPS Distinguished Speaker Luncheon Series Event at the Dallas Country Club featuring Ray Washburne, President of Highland Park Village. Proceeds will benefit the PCHPS scholarship fund for HP students. Purchase tickets online: www.pchps.org
  •  Saturday, April 14 10th Annual Historic Home Tour & Boutique at 4416 Beverly Dr, 10 a.m to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 15 New! Preservation Sunday Open House featuring properties for sale in the Park Cities of historic or architectural significance.

Details: 2012 Historic Home Tour weekend will feature architecturally and historically significant homes in the Park Cities.  

  • The purpose of the annual Historic Home Tour weekend is to showcase architecturally and historically significant homes of the Park Cities and illustrate how these homes have been restored or remodeled and updated to serve the lifestyle needs of families today.  
  • The Historic Home Tour Weekend is the Society’s only fundraiser each year.  Proceeds from the weekend help further our mission to promote, protect and preserve the historic, architectural, cultural and aesthetic legacy of the Park Cities.
  • The Society landmarks architecturally and historically significant homes in the Park Cities, some of which are showcased on the Historic Home Tour.
  • Members of the Society enjoy historic and preservation oriented educational programs.

Overview: The Historic Home Tour Weekend is the only fundraiser of the Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society.  Our mission is to protect, preserve and promote the historic, architectural, cultural and aesthetic legacy of the Park Cities. A portion of the proceeds of the 2012 Home Tour Weekend will be used to help preserve and maintain the Park Cities House at Dallas Heritage Village, which was the second home built in Highland Park. Proceeds from the Distinguished Luncheon Event will go toward the PCHPS scholarship program for Highland Park High School.

  • 4348 Shenandoah:  1938/Architect unknown/Greek Revival
  • 3131 Southwestern:  1935/George N. Marble/Colonial Revival
  • 3437 Mockingbird Lane:  c 1910. Earliest available records show 1933, however, mode of construction indicates turn of the century/Early American Cape Cod
