Members of the Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach Circle of the Ruth Sharp Altshuler Tocqueville Society gathered at the stunning home of Brett and Lester Levy for a special evening of celebration, applauding the remarkable impact the group’s resources have made in North Texas. 

United Way of Metropolitan Dallas McDermott-Templeton President and CEO Jennifer Sampson welcomed guests and thanked the Circle members for their boundless generosity and commitment to changing lives across the region.  Members collectively account for nearly $5 million of United Way’s annual campaign, each contributing $25,000 or more. 

Founder of the Tocqueville Society, Ruth Sharp Altshuler, and her husband, Ken, smiled as Sampsonshared that the Tocqueville Society, comprised of donors contributing at least $10,000 annually, has grown to 915 members, making gifts totaling $10.7 million.  Resources raised by United Way support efforts to achieve bold, 10-year community goals to prepare at least 60% of all high school graduates to succeed in college and careers, move 250,000 more people out of poverty permanently, and improve health and quality of life across North Texas.

Also in attendance were supporters who have made significant gifts to the Unite Forever Campaign, launched in February 2015 to ensure a more predictable, sustainable, and stable future for North Texas.  To date, the campaign has raised $43 million toward its $100 million goal.  Unite Forever campaign donors in attendance included Caroline Rose Hunt, Lyda Hill, Karen and Tom Falk, and Diane and Hal Brierley.

Chairs of the Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach Circle of the Ruth Sharp Altshuler Tocqueville Society, Barbara and Steve Durham, mingled with guests Laura and Jason Downing, Anne Motsenbocker, Carol and Jeff Heller, Marcy and Steve Sands, Walter Levy, Carol and Don Glendenning and Nancy Shutt.  The evening included a made-to-order sushi bar and passed southern specialties, along with custom cocktails.  Guests departed reminded that generosity and compassion build a stronger community for all.
