Highland Park graduate Jon Alexis is excited to bring his family's business, TJ's Seafood Market, "home" later this year.

TJ's Seafood Market, which has been around since 1989 and has developed a strong reputation for its high quality seafood, currently has one location near the intersection of Preston Road and Forest Lane but will be opening a Park Cities store in the fall at The Shops of Highland Park. The target opening date for the new location is Oct. 1.

The new 1,636-square-foot store will have a seafood market and 24 seats for anyone who would like to eat lunch or dinner there, Alexis said. The main focus of the location will be to provide fresh fish to customers.

"We are and always will be primarily a seafood market," Alexis said. "We'll offer fresh fish, recipes, cooking demos and more as we have for 22 years at our award winning Preston Hollow location."

In addition to raw fish, the store will sell prepared items, such as cocktail shrimp, home-smoked salmon and halibut, and party platters, he said.

Shoppers who choose to dine-in will get to enjoy "white tablecloth quality" in a casual setting, Alexis said. Diners will be able to select their fish directly from the case, so they can see the quality first hand.

Also, the store will sell "fish-friendly wine and regional beers," he said. The brands of alcohol that will be offered range from Anchor Steam to Samuel Adams.

Alexis said the new TJ's Seafood Market is opening in a great location, next door to the Italian-American restaurant and grocery store Carbone's.

"An Italian grocery (Carbone's) and seafood market (TJ's) are a natural pair," he said. "The combination gives the neighborhood a grocery experience unlike any in Dallas. We can’t wait to partner for cooking classes, dual recipes, tasting menus and lots more."

The address of the new TJ's Seafood Market location is 4212 Oak Lawn Ave. For more information, visit www.tjsseafood.com.
