Tootsies in the Plaza at Preston Center hosted a kickoff party on the evening of Feb. 2 for the 1st Annual Stiletto Stampede for the Cure.

At the party, attendees were able to register for the Stiletto Stampede, listen to music by DJ Jason Barnes, eat catered food by Prestigious Palette and browse stiletto shoe displays.

The 1st Annual Stiletto Stampede for the Cure is a 100-yard dash in high heels to "encourage young men and women to understand the risks of breast cancer" and help prevent the disease by "promoting self awareness through early detection and screening methods," according to a news release about the event.

The Stiletto Stampede, which is being hosted on March 3, is hoping to set a Guinness Book World Record for having 1,000 people in high heels.

Tootsies is hosting the 1st Annual Stiletto Stampede for the Cure, and the proceeds raised will benefit the Komen Dallas County Affiliate and rehab programs created by the Stiletto Stampede organization.
