Three men attempted to burglarize a Highland Park home in the 3300 block of Dartmouth Avenue this morning.

Here's how the situation transpired:

  • 11:03 a.m. — The Highland Park Police Department was notified of a glass-break alarm from a Town monitored house in the 3300 block of Dartmouth Avenue.
  • 11:04 a.m. — Officers arrived at the scene, and three men fled in a truck that was parked in the alley.
  • 11:05 a.m. — The police lost sight of the vehicle near the intersection of Abbott Avenue and Knox Street.

Lance Koppa, public information officer for the Highland Park Police Department, said the truck hit another vehicle after evading the police and then struck a South Dallas home near the intersection of Harwood Street and Lenway Street. The men got away, and the situation is still under investigation.

All of the property that was taken was recovered on-site at the home in the 3300 block of Dartmouth Avenue, Koppa said.
