You may not think of track and field as a team sport, but with the Lady Scots it most definitely is. Although all 122 members didn’t compete last week at the Area Meet, make no mistake, it was all of them that led to HP racking up enough points to take 2nd place in an intensely competitive field. These girls don’t run for themselves, they run for each other.
The coaching staff, Susan Bailey, Chad Coffey, Roxanne Farris, Sterling Hill and Brett John, has built a tradition with its cornerstone teamwork. Once again, that tradition has paid off. Nineteen members of the Lady Scot’s team will move forward to compete next Friday and Saturday in Waco, propelled there by the momentum of their teammates and a program that fosters hard work.
As one will often hear the coaches say, “It’s a great day to be a Lady Scot.”
