Author Charlotte Rogan will discuss her new novel, Now and Again, on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the UP Public Library at 8383 Plaza at Preston Center.  She will sign copies of the book after the discussion. Books will be sold at the event by the Friends of the University Park Public Library.

Set for release by Little, Brown and Company on April 5, 2016 , Now and Again has some regional appeal – it is set in Southeastern Oklahoma.  This is Rogan’s second novel, following The Lifeboat, published in 2012.  Now and Again mingles the lives of a cast of characters dealing with the consequences of their actions: Maggie, a munitions plant whistleblower; a midwife concerned about local babies born with birth defects; and a pastor who wants to catch the wave of reality show popularity.  The stories of these locals are intertwined with Penn Sinclair, a tortured Iraq War veteran who hopes to expose “truth” by launching a website filled with information and stories.   Penn and Maggie both learn that truth does not always provide clarity or answers.

Rogan’s The Lifeboat garnered critical acclaim as a “Beautifully constructed first novel…” (USA Today) and an “…assured debut” (Entertainment Weekly).   It was nominated for The Guardian first book award and the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.  The Lifeboat has been translated into 26 languages.  With Now and Again, she has once again proven that the struggle between truth and its consequences make for an engrossing story.

Charlotte Rogan studied architecture at Princeton University and worked for a large construction company before turning to fiction.  After residing for many years in Dallas and a year in Johannesburg, she now lives in Westport, Connecticut.
