There is a new twist in the ongoing saga that is the proposed redevelopment project to the Chase Building in Snider Plaza.

The owner of the building filed a lawsuit on Thursday against University Park's board of adjustment for allegedly violating the Texas Open Meetings Act last month.

The lawsuit states that the board went into a closed-door session on Nov. 29 to discuss an appeal to the project's proposed above-ground parking garage but violated the law by failing to explain beforehand why the meeting was not open to the public, according to the Dallas Morning News.

After returning from the closed-door session, the board unanimously decided to block the proposed garage from being built.

There has been a decade-long debate about the proposed redevelopments to the Chase Building. Local residents have expressed concerns about the project because of its size and traffic problems getting worse in the area.
