The “Future Healthcare Professional Scholarship” awarded by Dr. Sarah Tevis Poteet, a Dallas family dentist, was developed to help Highland Park senior students interested in pursuing an education and career in healthcare. Poteet’s passion for dentistry and helping others stems from her own personal dental experiences, and she desires to encourage students to also make a difference in people’s lives.

Reed Farmer, a recent graduate of Highland Park High School, was awarded the “Future Healthcare Professional Scholarship” for 2012. He will be starting college in the fall and majoring in pre-medicine. Farmer was selected due to his academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and dedication to helping others through healthcare and medicine. He would like to continue serving others through medical mission work.

"We are proud to award the college scholarship to Reed Farmer," Poteet said. "We know that he will go on to make a difference in the world. We plan to continue this scholarship program yearly for Highland Park seniors planning on pursuing a degree in healthcare. This is our way of giving back to the youth in our community.”

Poteet graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Dental School in May 2003 and currently practices dentistry in Dallas. Poteet is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Dallas County Dental Society, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. She has a family and aesthetic dentistry practice in the Park Cities area of Dallas.

Poteet's practice is located at 8226 Douglas Ave., Ste. 859, and you can find out more information by calling (214) 363-4414 or visiting www.dallassmiledentist.com.
