Ragland, Strother & Lafitte (RSL) and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company have awarded Highland Park Department of Public Safety (HPDPS) a $9,690 grant for the purchase of new fire hose. Specifically, HPDPS will use the grant to purchase two different sizes of fire hose: 1,000 feet of 5-inch supply hose and 750 feet of 3-inch attack hose. The 5-inch supply hose is the standard size used when supplying water from a fire hydrant to a fire engine. The 3-inch attack hose is used to get large volumes of water from the fire engine to the fire ground. The grant allows HPDPS to equip Engine-331, Highland Park’s “first out” fire engine, with new fire hose.

Highland Park officials, firefighters, executives and employees from Ragland, Strother & Lafitte and Fireman’s Fund will come together on Wednesday August 8, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Highland Park DPS, 4700 Drexel Dr., for a special public event where the grant package will be presented. Highland Park Department of Public Safety Assistant Chief Rick Pyle said, ”The new hose is stronger, more reliable and lighter. This brings safety to both our crews and citizens. We are very grateful for this grant.”
