HP Police Blotter: Wallet Left in Resident's Mailbox

Highland Park, Texas (May 29-June 3)

MAY 29

Vehicle Burglary
A 56-year-old resident reported that an unknown person entered her 2010 Mercedes ML350 and stole a bag of clothing from Anthropologie between 7:30 p.m. on May 28 and 6:10 a.m. on May 29 while it was parked in the driveway of her residence in the 4200 block of Livingston Avenue.

Vehicle Burglary
A 53-year-old resident reported that someone broke into her Jaguar XJ8 and "ransacked" the vehicle but did not steal anything between 10 a.m. on May 28 and 7:44 a.m. on May 29 in the 4200 block of Edmondson Avenue. The resident's guest, a 24-year-old who lives in Justin, Texas, reported that her Chevrolet Cruze was also broken into around the same time, and a phone charger was stolen.

Theft
A 58-year-old resident reported that two large clay pots containing trees were stolen between 10 p.m. on May 28 and 6 a.m. on May 29 from the east side entrance of her home in the 3400 block of Cornell Avenue.

Vehicle Burglary
A 25-year-old resident reported that an unknown suspect entered his unlocked Range Rover and stole a $1,400 cashier's check, checkbook, iPod cable and an iPod charger between 10 p.m. on May 28 and 7:44 a.m. on May 29 while it was parked in the driveway of his residence in the 4200 block of Edmondson Avenue. Also, a 27-year-old resident reported that someone broke into his Ford Escape and stole an iPod, iPod charger, FM transmitter, air compressor and an Unbreakable AutoLock during the same time period while it was parked on the street in the same block.

MAY 31

Fraud
A 46-year-old resident, who lives in the 4600 block of Livingston Avenue, reported that someone attempted to withdraw money from his bank account at a Chase Bank in New York City, using a driver's license with his information and his social security number.

Lost Property
A 27-year-old resident of Dallas reported that he left his wallet on the back of a trailer while he was unloading it around 10:15 a.m. on May 22 in the 3700 block of Lexington Avenue, and then he forgot about it and drove away while it was still on the back of the trailer. He returned to look for the wallet but could not find it.

Vehicle Burglary
A 52-year-old resident reported that someone stole her wallet, containing a driver's license and multiple debit and credit cards, from her unlocked GMC Yukon XL between 12:15 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. while it was parked in the driveway of her residence in the 4500 block of Rheims Place and then the person made about $1,000 worth of transactions on the cards at Target and QuickTrip stores.

JUNE 1

Criminal Mischief
A 19-year-old resident reported that he was on his computer and listening to music through headphones when he heard a loud noise come from the front of his apartment at 2:13 a.m. in the 4500 block of Abbott Avenue. When he went to investigate the noise, he saw an unknown man standing at his front door, looking at him through the window. The resident tried to open the front door, but the interior door handle was "damaged and inoperable." The resident then went to call the police, and when he came back the suspect had left the scene. Upon investigation, the police did not observe any signs of "forced entry to the outer door knob, nor were there any pry marks." The resident's landlord was notified about the damage to the interior door handle.

Vehicle Burglary
A 66-year-old resident reported that an unknown suspect stole a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses and a briefcase, containing a laptop, software and numerous electronic items, from his unlocked 2000 Lexus LS 400 between 12:05 a.m. and 6:50 a.m. while it was parked on the street in the 4500 block of Westway Avenue.

Vehicle Burglary
A 63-year-old resident reported that an unknown suspect entered her unlocked 1995 Honda Accord, "ransacked" the interior and stole three bags of used clothing from the trunk between 10 p.m. on May 31 and 8 a.m. on June 1 in the 4500 block of Edmondson Avenue.

Warrant Service
A 52-year-old resident, who lives in the 4700 block of Abbott Avenue, was pulled over for having expired registration and inspection stickers at 10:48 p.m. in the 4900 block of Abbott Avenue, and the driver was arrested for having outstanding warrants with the Highland Park DPS and Dallas Sheriff's Office for charges, among them driving while intoxicated, having expired registration and not having proper insurance.

Fraud
A 65-year-old resident, who lives in the 4200 block of Bordeaux Avenue, reported that two checks, totaling $596.37, were counterfeited with his and his wife's information.

Vehicle Burglary
A 38-year-old resident reported that an unknown suspect entered her unlocked 2009 Chevrolet Suburban and stole two AT&T U-verse television boxes and a saxophone between 6 p.m. on May 31 and 10 a.m. on June 1 while it was parked at the curb of her residence in the 4500 block of Rheims Place.

Found Property
A 39-year-old resident reported that someone placed a black leather wallet, containing only a health insurance card and four business cards, in the mailbox of her residence in the 4500 block of Belfort Place.

JUNE 2

Warrant Service
A 39-year-old resident of Richardson was pulled over and given a ticket for having an expired registration sticker and arrested for having an outstanding expired registration warrant in the Town of Highland Park at 9:45 a.m. in the 5500 block of Armstrong Parkway.

JUNE 3

Narcotic Arrest
A 16-year-old was pulled over for having an expired registration sticker, and then the officer discovered cigarettes and marijuana in the vehicle, and the minor was arrested at 7:58 p.m. in the 4300 block of Edmondson Avenue.
